We’ve been so fabulously busy with weddings this year, so busy it’s been near impossible to write a little blog post about what we’ve been up to! So here are a few photo’s of some of the wonderful arrangements we’ve been enjoying creating…

A Pop Of Orange!

15 Jul

A big thanks to Siobhan for popping by with a cd of these gorgeous pics from her wedding in May, which took place at The Rectory in Glandore. We loved working with Siobhan on her flowers, we adored her orange & white theme, and how cute is that page boy with his turquoise jumper!?

Romance is Blooming

10 Jun

Gosh, the months seem to be flying so quickly here at Daisy Chain! We’ve really been enjoying working with lots of brides on their weddings this year, and are super excited to get busy on the ones yet to come.

Adare Manor Table Arrangements

We recently had the absolute pleasure of working on a beautiful, soft & romantic wedding at the magical Adare Manor.

Unity 1

The scent of the flowers in the church (Crecora, very near Adare Manor) were amazing! Peonies, David Austin Roses, Tea Roses & Freesia, all visually complimented by perfect hydrangea, viburnum & foliages.

All the bouquets were a combination of white, pale pink & pink peonies. Yum!

In May we created this buttonhole & bouquet for a bride who was having an intimate wedding in Glandore. “Sweet Avalanche” has to be one of our most favourite pink roses, it is just so pretty! Teamed with gorgeous lemon-scented waxflower gave it a bit of a vintage feel.

Blue & White Button Phil

“Blue” flowers can be tricky, but not at this time of year! Right now there is an abundance of choice in blue, including hydrangea, agapanthus, eringium, delphinium, nigella & cornflower.  This bride went for eringium in her bouquet, teamed with pretty white roses & spray roses, intersperced with “baby blue” eucalyptus. The buttonhole of white rose, wired agapanthus & foliage complimented it really beautifully.

Calla Bouquet

We were delighted with how this bouquet of Calla Lillies turned out! It was so gorgeous with it’s collar of white bouvardia & parvi-eucalyptus trim.

April Weddings

22 Apr

April has been a wonderful wedding month for us here at Daisy Chain. Each week we have been opening boxes of exquisite flowers to work with, it really has been very exciting indeed.

Peonie roses are back (yay!), along with hydrangea & sweet pea,

and of course the fabulous Irish grown Alstromeria, all the way from Midleton, Co.Cork.

We loved this brides selection of flowers. Her bridemaids wore a dresses of varying purple shades.

Urn Flowers

There’s those AMaZing “Norma Jean” roses again!

We also had a wedding at this location, what a view!

Old Head

Some gorgeous, “springy”, filled glass cubes for the tablecentres.

Take a peek at the bridesmaid bouquet. We love those “Miss Piggy” roses.

Here they are teamed with “Mimi Eden” spray roses, pale lemon tulips, ranunculus & alchemelia molis.

Bouquet Wild

We also had a “wild” wedding, such a favourite. This bouquet was packed with freesia, chamomile, waxflower, alchemelia molis, rosemary and veronica. Meadow sweet!

Here is the altar in our local St.John’s church in Kinsale all decked out in a beautifully romantic style last Friday! The scent was just unbelieveable thanks to big, blousy peonie’s teamed with David Austin “Patience” roses & lemon scented waxflower.

How romantic is the bridal bouquet?

The bridesmaids carried various shades of pink bouquets.

Just a few more weddings to go now for April!

A Little Vintage Darling

3 Apr

There really is something very special and wonderful about vintage inspired weddings. We love everything from the little vintage style touches to the full on, themed affairs. Vintage can be classical, but it can also be masses of fun, and we adore fun weddings!

We recently recieved this adorable vintage parasol, which we found on a Style Me Pretty photo on Pinterest! This parasol can be hired for your own wedding from us.

And here’s a beautiful bouquet we recently created for a bride with beautiful vintage style roses & waxflower, in off white to champagne tones, so classic & romantic!

When it comes to “vintage” style flowers we think that scent is a vital, they must have a scent that brings you back to a special time or event. Lots of our brides love the scent of roses, we couldn’t tell you how many of them say it reminds them of making perfume from rose petals in their grandmothers’ gardens! Some of our favourite scented rose varieties include “Norma Jean“, David Austin “Keira” & “White O’Hara“.

For  superbly styled vintage wedding ideas, have a look at Pearl & Godiva. They are based in Dunmanway, and have a huge collection of vintage items available to hire. They also offer styling services, their work is stunning!

We love those little macarons too, so yummy! Taylor at Diva’s in Ballinspittle does really gorgeous ones.

Badge Of Approval!

13 Mar

Sincere and heartfelt “thanks!” to all our lovely customers and supporters for voting us through to the Finalist round in the most recent awards. We recieved a Judges Commendation for our work, and are utterly thrilled. Today we recieved our badge!

Springing Into Wedding Season!

25 Feb

Hip-hip-hurray! 2013 weddings at Daisy Chain have begun!

Last weekend we did the flowers for two gorgeous brides, and two very different styles. We love getting to know our brides in the months leading up to their weddings, every one is so different.

wedding 006

One of our brides chose traditional style bouquets, classic white roses being the central flowers. We went with “Norma Jean” roses, they are just heavenly with their big, soft appearance & old-fashioned scent.

wedding 012

We’ve noticed a leaning towards the teardrop style bouquet over the last year, and our bride chose this style for her own bouquet. We made it more current by using gorgeous jasmine strands and eucalyptus foliages, which of course smelled fabulous, especially when teamed with Freesia’s & “Norma Jean” roses!

wedding 020 wedding 035

For the mens buttonholes we kept things simple with a rose, trimmed with freesia buds and a little bit of fern. The ladies corsages were more elaborate with pearl beaded loops.

wedding 001

For the bridesmaids we created classic one-on-one rose bouquets, with a bit of diamonte bling….

Our second bride chose a sweet spring selection in pastel pink and lilac hues.

wedding 045

Ranunculus, freesia, hyancinth, lisianthus, spray rose, veronica & eucalytus! So pretty, and an utterly divine scent.

wedding 070

The mens buttonholes were consisted of beautiful freesia and a lilac spray rose, trimmed with a wired bay leaf and eucalyptus sprig.

wedding 075

For the ladies corsages we bound together freesia, ranunculus, waxflower & eucalyptus.

Wild for Wild

1 Feb

We’ve noticed in the past couple of years a growing trend for “wild style” bouquets and wedding flowers, we LOVE it! There is something so pretty about that just picked look and it can easily be adapted to lots of different styles, just add lace bindings for a vintage look, or make things a little more formal by including some gorgeous tea roses, or some heavenly “David Austins“.

Wild Style Bouquet with Garden Twine Binding by Daisy Chain Kinsale

Think about these gorgeous flowers for your “wild” wedding;

  • Chamomile
  • Waxflower
  • Zinnia’s
  • Marguerites
  • Veronica
  • Freesia
  • Nigella
  • Amni Visnaga

Here are some gorgeous ideas too. We love how the colours change the look.

Aren’t the burlap, lace and pin details on the bindings so pretty?
